Award-winning long distance train operator Hull Trains has teamed up with Crewe-based Train Bits and More Ltd (TBM) to offer customers increased power and USB sockets on its fleet of class 180 units.
Based at the Hull Paragon Interchange, the rail operator runs 92 services to and from London each week from the Humber region.
In 2016, Hull Trains sourced the slimline sockets from TBM and installed them in their first class carriages. This month work has commenced to add the industry-approved fittings to the rest of the company’s carriages.
The handy charge points put the power in its customers’ hands, and such emphasis on its users’ needs continues to see Hull Trains topping the National Rail Passenger Survey satisfaction tables.
Jon Plowright, Head of Engineering at Hull Trains, said: “This additional service on Hull Trains has been delivered to make travelling with us even more convenient, especially as our customers can now use and charge their phones and laptops at the same time, without having to worry about running out of power.
“We pride ourselves on providing the best possible journey experience and the USB sockets are yet another enhancement to our list of free services including free 4G single-sign-up Wi-Fi, industry-first real-time information screens, renowned customer service from our on-board hosts and some of the very best value fares in the industry.
“Following fantastic feedback about the USB charges from our customers in first-class, we have now extended this service across all carriages.”
TBM partners numerous companies, with a focus on improving the travelling experience for rail passengers.
Neil Smith, TBM director, said: “Working with Hull Trains has been superb for us, as they fully embrace the idea of delivering an outstanding customer experience.
“The range of sockets that we supply was the right solution for their carriages and the project has been a tremendous success.
“The Hull Trains on-board experience is fantastic and they are a genuinely forward-thinking company that is always looking to raise the bar in rail travel.”
Working with most of the country’s fleet operators, in addition to power charge points TBM provides seat cleaning services, toilet and tank overhauls, and powder coating solutions for grab rails and grab handles.
