Rail firm offers solution to carriage damage

Cheshire-based TBM Rail has linked up with powder coating specialist Omnikote to supply UK transport operators with the next generation of long-lasting surfaces for passenger fittings.

Nylon R-AG has been developed with the toughest travel environments in mind to give a smooth, hard-wearing finish that looks great, lasts longer and saves operating companies re-fit costs in the long run.

The durable coating addresses ongoing damage to essential equipment such as grab poles and grab handles that leaves carriages looking worn and shabby, ultimately affecting passenger survey scores.

The product has already been deployed across parts of the London Underground. As such, Nylon R-AG meets the strict safety standards demanded by the UK railway industry.

Grab handle and close up passengerTBM Rail Director, Neil Smith, said; “We are always looking to provide innovative solutions to the transport sector. Working with Omnikote is a great opportunity to supply a top-quality product to fleet operators that will enhance the passenger experience.

“The Nylon R-AG coating has superb qualities, including increased abrasion resistance and improved anti-graffiti qualities, plus it’s warm to the touch.

“It’s an ideal coating for new projects, but any operators refurbishing stock can also benefit. When traditional polyester coats have been replaced with nylon, they will last for years. That keeps future maintenance costs down.

“The coating is non-toxic, helps to resist chemical and solvent spills, comes in multiple colours, and it is manufactured from renewable resources. We are delighted to offer it to the rail industry.”

TBM Rail offers a range of passenger comfort services, including train toilet and tank overhauls, seat cover cleaning and refurbishment, plus the installation of slimline power sockets with USB connections.
